Available are both Hard and Soft Copies of the Thesis.This thesis aims to examine the strategies that could be used in order to translate a self-help Islamic text into English. It is known for a fact that Islamic texts are sensitive texts, which requires special attention in translating to a different culture. This paper shows that the strategies used to achieve this goal could change depending on intertextual elements like genre, text and discourse. In order to achieve this, a text sample, Laa tahzan, by Aaidh Abdullah Al-Qarni (2002) and its translation, Don't Be Sad, by Faisal Muhammed Shafeeq (Al-Qarni, 2005) is analyzed implementing concepts derived from these elements. It is concluded that this type of genre is very new to the source culture and it could be replaced by a new genre that might be affective to the target audience.en-USThesis
