Abstract
Thousands of innocent lives have been taken away due to seismic crashes and earthquakes. Besides human losses, a lot of money is spent on restructuring what has been collapsed and destroyed. Unfortunately, since most earthquake resistant systems are costly, they are rarely implemented despite their great importance and benefits. Therefore, the objective of this report is to present a complete and obtainable earthquake-proof system that has a low cost and increases safety. The main problem associated with earthquakes is the great damage it causes on buildings. During an earthquake, plate movement causes the base and foundation to move while the top structure remains in position due to inertia. Not only that, but the massive energy from seismic waves gets absorbed by the structural elements causing the building to collapse. In addition, the issue of unstable foundation due to soil fluidity and movement is something critical to analyze and solve. Yet, another major problem exists due to the sudden occurrence of earthquakes, where people are not informed beforehand of an earthquake in order to evacuate for safety. Regarding the mentioned problems, the most effective and efficient solutions of different engineering aspects are as follows: installing seismic dampers, isolating the building’s foundation from the ground below it, stabilizing the soil to make it more water-resistant, and designing an early warning system
