Description
Abstract
There is growing interest among business school faculty, administrators and students
in incorporating sustainability topics into undergraduate and MBA programs. The challenge
is not only to deliver knowledge and content but also to train students in the practices of
sustainability management which they will need for future careers in the field. This article
describes the experience of launching an undergraduate elective at an AACSB accredited
business school of a state university in the Florida system. Here the authors explain how a
problem-based learning approach and cooperation with a university-based Small Business
Development Center have added value to the course delivery and outcomes. Students develop
competencies not only in green business practice but in consulting project management. This
article provides a benchmark and guidelines for readers interested in implementing similar
programs in their own institutions.
