Abstract
The problems related to the generation of electricity to fuel vehicles are three-fold. Firstly, conventional vehicles are major contributors to pollution due to the combustion of petroleum which is leading to the depletion of non-renewable resources. Second, traditional hybrid cars have the problem of running out of charge and need constant long hours of battery charging. Third, the speed of traditional hybrid vehicles is not convenient for day-to-day traveling. Moreover, the distance covered is minimal due to constant stop-over for charging the battery. Lastly, since this system is working electronically we need to ensure the smooth running and efficiency of the vehicle system. Considering the problems above, our team proposed the following solutions: the use of piezoelectric materials to generate electricity, having a pack of two batteries to increase travel range and eliminate the need for charging the batteries, the use of a switching system to alternate between the two batteries, and the proper use of aerodynamics to increase the cars performance.
